Really good experience. We went here for our fige year anniversary and had a lovely time. The waitstaff were helpful guiding my choices due to my gluten allergy. Happy to report no sickness or cross contamination. The salmon was great and we split a creme brulee. I recommend getting a reservation here if you're coming to the city.
Ordered the steak frites and it was very very good. They serve pickles with mustard at the table and those were also very good. Interior looks nice and service was very attentive. Signage is minimum, you don’t know you’re there until you’re basically at the door. Prices were also very reasonable considering the quality.
The food is incredible!! I started with a vegetable soup and every piece of vegetables were cut to the same size. I then had the steak and frites. The fries were perfect!! The ambiance was something of the 1930’s/40’s New York. Staff was incredible and they have unlimited little pickles.

Everything felt precise and intentional, from the pacing of the meal to the little details that make you feel genuinely cared for as a guest. L’Express manages to be timeless without feeling dated, refined without being stiff, and indulgent without being overdone. If you want classic French bistro food executed at the highest level, paired with impeccable service, this is the place. L’Express isn’t just great—it’s essential Montreal dining. Can’t recommend it enough.
Been meaning to visit this amazing restaurant for sometime now. Finally got the opportunity last night. The quality of their food and service was amazing. The place was packed at 8:30 in the evening, this is a testament of how great this place is. We ordered the bone Marrow and vegetable soup with appetizers. My wife got the ravioli, and I got the duck confit. And both were delicious. My duck was fall off the bone and was really juicy and tender. They probably have over 100 options of wine. We went with the 2020 Pinot noir Au Bon Climat from California. The wine was fruity and really light. It paired well with both the ravioli and the duck confit. The service was remarkable, we went with our toddler, daughter and they made sure that we were comfortable. You need to reserve a table before you show up. I would recommend this restaurant.
My husband and I visited from Toronto and wow, we were mind blown from the food and customer service. I made sure to make a reservation as I knew it was a busy place. The servers are phenomenal and provide great service - my water and wine was never empty! On top of it, they give you a jar of pickles on house to munch at while waiting for your food - including be happier! The food is Michelin star for a reason … I got the duck and crème brûlée and it was SO GOOD. The crème brûlée is massive and you could share it with someone - or not :) Cant wait to be back!
Overall great food and authentic French environment. Duck confit: duck cooked super well, the red sauce/bean mixture it came with was good, but would have preferred another side. Quail: really good. Everything paired well and the meat was well cooked. Sauce and rice were perfect. Profiteroles: sooo good. not too sweet. Chocolate cake: really good no complaints
food was so good we came back twice in 3 days. beef cappacio was super fresh. foie gras parfait was amazing. hanger steak was perfection. lamb shank tender. dessert was superb. profiterole and lemon tart are standouts. wine list is affordable and good too. service is quick and so is their turnaround. reservations are needed so do call them.
We had a great time! Everything we ordered was super tasty, the wine selection is excellent, and the service was top-notch. The waiters were friendly, welcoming, and made the whole experience even better. Definitely a place we’d come back to
Need reservation. Decor is like a classic French restaurant. Quite noisy but doesn’t bother me. Be polite to them and service staff will treat you better. First time here, we ordered: Fish soup - very flavourful with Clam and fish, rich in Umami taste. This is a personal preference, with that rich umami taste, it would taste more better if u add abit of salt if u feel the soup tasted not salty but abit off. I loved the soup a lot more after added abit of salt😛. Thats me, use as your own risk! 🤭 Homemade Ravioli, must try in my opinion, the sauce is soooooo flavourful!! Reminds me of a rich Demi Glacé sauce! Quail - nicely roasted and juicy meat and very flavourful! The sauce for both dishes are very quite , taste similar but fit well with the dish! Yum! Dessert wise, it’s good but doesn’t “wow” like the Quail and Ravioli. A solid 5 stars experience
